Shu Thayu? is a 2018 Indian Gujarati language comedy film written and directed by Krishnadev Yagnik and produced by Mahesh Danannavar, the founder of MD Media Corp & Vaishal Shah. It stars Malhar Thakar, Yash Soni, Mayur Chauhan, Mitra Gadhvi, Aarjav Trivedi and Kinjal Rajpriya. The score was composed by the Kedar-Bhargav and Rahul Munjariya. The film is a remake of the Tamil film Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom (2012).

Shu Thayu - Story: While playing cricket with his friends– Neel (Yash Soni), Chirag (Mitra Gadhvi) and Viral (Aarjav Trivedi), Manan (Malhar Thakar) meets with an accident that causes partial loss of his memory. Consequently, Manan doesn’t recognize his fiance Deepali (Kinjal Rajpriya), neither does he remember anything about his impending wedding. Will Manan’s friends salvage the situation and will he regain memory?

Shu thayu - Review: Expectations were high from director Krishnadev Yagnik, considering his previous two ventures (Chhello Divas and Karsandas Pay & Use) were much appreciated by critics and masses alike. And this man has again ensured that he played his comedy cards aptly and this one scores a hat-trick when it comes to ensuring a fun-filled movie experience. While the movie is reportedly inspired from a South Indian comedy flick, the ‘Gujarati-fication’ was so seamless on parameters of screenplay, dialogues and direction that it didn’t come across as a remake. Comedy factor is the biggest USP of this film. Right from the opening scene where Manan mentions over a phone call that he is looking for ‘pari jevi chhokri’ and Deepali comes wearing ‘angel’ attire for some college show, you know that you are in for a hilarious treat. The music adds more life to the film, especially ‘Bhaibando Bhare Bhayankar’ and ‘Shaan Bhaan Bhule’.
Apart from that, the performances take the movie to the next level. Malhar, again, is the star of the show, although he has been stereotyped a bit (like his characters in Chhello Divas and Love Ni Bhavai). Still, the audiences’ blue-eyed boy plays his role to perfection, with impeccable comic timing. Yash Soni, Mitra Gadhvi, and Kinjal Rajpriya prove to be the perfect foil in terms of performances but it is Aarjav Trivedi, with his unique character sketch as Viral, who is an absolute show-stealer. His comic timing, as he cheers up Chirag with the slowest paced sentence delivery, is of a different level!
The movie isn’t without its flaws though. After a point, the dialogue repetition (‘Shu Thayu? Aapde cricket ramta 'ta…’) loses its fun factor and becomes irritating, which was avoidable. The movie loses its pace and becomes slow in the second half, which could have been edited better. Besides, Deepali is mentioned as Deepika by many in the film, with even the wedding board reading ‘Deepika’ – a goof-up that probably escaped everyone’s attention at the editing table. Netri’s character Chaitali was not established properly and a bit of flashback would have added more fun to this one, get all the government jobs and Sarkari jobs related information visit here.

But overall, the movie retains its fun factor so well that it makes this one a must-watch for all Malhar Thakar fans. Go, watch this Chhello Divas cast recreate the magic in a totally different story! - Shruti Jambhekar
